Just Travelling Through

Hi! My name’s Stuart. Just a normal lad from Yorkshire who travels around the world. I'm here to share my experiences on the road from cities and countries around the world, including some less well-known places off the beaten path.
Six continents down (so far!) and a few years living in Spain. I don't tend to stay in one place for too long. As the name says... Just Travelling Through

From the top of Rio's famous Sugarloaf Mountain it From the top of Rio's famous Sugarloaf Mountain it's easy to see how packed the city is with buildings squeezed in among the surrounding hills.

The views are a breathtaking mix of nature and bustling city life, where something is happening all the time.

There are few major cities around the world that can offer this type of scenery, and it's one of the things that makes Rio so incredible.

Flying in to Rio I could see the favelas and how they occupied the surrounding hillsides. Home built everywhere they could just for a place to live.

Rio's scenery is spectacularly dramatic! Even down Rio's scenery is spectacularly dramatic! Even down at the beach you can see the striking image of Dois Irmãos (the two brothers) in the distance.

Rio has several beaches to enjoy, but Ipanema is the most popular with the locals (and has a better song than the nearby Copacabana).

My original plan about now was to head back to Sou My original plan about now was to head back to South America. So seems like as good a time as any to start sharing my photos from my last visit. Starting with one of my favourite cities - Rio de Janeiro!

There's so much cool stuff to do in Rio. The first place I went to was the famous Selaron Steps, just a short walk from my hostel.

There are so many cool mosaic tiles here and it was a good start to the colour and life of the city.

This mural references Los Indianos, the people who left Spain in the 19th century to make their fortune in the New World.

Nearby on Paseo Menéndez Pelayo you'll see huge houses bought with money sent home from the Americas.

Many of them have palm trees in front as a symbol of where the family's wealth came from.
